Tawanda Mashonganyika

Tawanda Mashonganyika is an Agricultural Economist and international development specialist with broad experience in market systems, food security, and smallholder agriculture across Africa.
He currently serves as Agriculture and Market Access Specialist at the World Food Programme (WFP), focusing on strengthening market linkages and food systems resilience in East Africa. Prior to this, he worked as Product Manager at CGIAR’s Excellence in Breeding (EiB) Platform, where he supported the development of market-driven, farmer-preferred crop varieties.
Tawanda holds qualifications in Agricultural Economics & Management from the University of Reading, United Kingdom, and has also studied at The University of Queensland, Australia. His professional expertise covers agricultural value chains, market access, product profiling, and humanitarian agriculture programming.
He has worked with national agricultural research systems and international organizations across several African countries, contributing to initiatives aimed at improving food security and smallholder livelihoods.
